Products & Tools used for Flawless Foundation Application [Tips & Techniques]

My previous post "8 Steps to Flawless Foundation Application", covered the steps to achieve a flawless finish. In this post I will share the products and tools I use to achieve the flawless foundation.

Note: It is my current skin care + foundation routine. It changes with time and according to the weather. The products I am listing works for my skin tone and type. You can take an idea and use the products that works best for your skin tone and type.

Cleansing products
1. Cleansing:
-Pond's Cleansing Milk.
-Freeman Apricot Scrub.
-Essence Anti-spot Toner and Powder.

These are the products I am currently using and they work best for my combination skin. I've used Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish products too, but this is my current cleansing regime and the products are easily available here. If you can get your hands on Liz Earle products, that would be a plus point for your skin care regime. The Pond's cleanser has always been my favorite after trying a couple of the cleansers, plus pocket friendly.

2. Moisturizer:
-Luscious Cosmetics Ultra Protective Whitening base.
- The Body Shop Tea Tree Skin Clearing Lotion.

- The Body Shop Vitamin E Illuminating Moisture Cream.
- L'Oreal Paris White Perfect night cream.
Since I have combination+acne prone skin, in the summers I keep the moisturizer very light; The Body Ship Tea Tree lotion was the best in the summer and for the acnes. My all year round day time favorite moisturizer+primer+sunscreen that I rave about always is Luscious Whitening base. The new addition to my moisturizer is The Body Shop Vitamin E Illuminating Moisture cream - totally loving it!

Face Primer
 3. Primer:
I don't use primer for the day time, only when I am doing full coverage makeup. The one I've been using is Adorn Mineral Cosmetics Primer. Girls looking for something locally available in Pakistan, Diana of London or DMGM Primer are great options. If you want to invest in a very good primer, then I would suggest Smashbox Photo Finish Primer.

Correction, Concealer and Foundation
Foundation and concealer sponges
4. Corrector:
I use Krylon orange corrector in 508. It works the best for my blueish under eye circles. But, sometimes I change it and use BH cosmetics 10 color camouflage palette. Any other brand of orange corrector would work too (only if you have VERY dark circles with blue undertones). The others can use a peach corrector, and some doesn't need a corrector.

5. Foundation:
My foundation changes with time, weather and taste. When I feel like trying the another foundation, that's when the foundation changes. Plus, when the weather changes I change the foundation with it. Since I started using MAC Studio fix, there is no going back to any other foundation. I just love the finish and the coverage it gives. My shade in Studio Fix liquid and powder is NC 30. Apart from that, I like Illamasqua Skin Base and Revlon Whipped Cream Foundation for heavier coverage and for winter.
The tools I use for foundation application on myself are fingers, Sigma F80 and Abbamart Tear Drop Beauty Sponge.

6. Concealer:
My concealer varies according to the event and time. I use NYX concealer in a jar - Glow (which is about to end and is my FAV) for the day time and BH cosmetics camouflage palette or Krylon stick for the night. I use Krylon FS 45, and slightly add Ivory for the concealing. The tool to apply the concealer is Sigma brush or fingers (if using the stick) and triangle wedge sponge to dab and blend it in.

7. Setting Powder:
The setting/compact powder varies too. I have these two that I keep changing with time and coverage I need, plus the products I use under it. When I just use concealer or BB Cream, I prefer MAC Studio Fix Foundation Powder in NC 30 or Mineral Hygenics powder. If I am using a full coverage foundation, I prefer using Color Studio Invincible Powder.

Makeup Setting Spray
8. Setting spray/mist:
For locally available in store setting sprays, I would recommend Karaja and Krylon - they both work wonderfully and seal the makeup. Apart from that, Urban Decay All Nighter's Spray is a raved product for setting the makeup in. For foundation or face to look dewy and less powder, MAC Fix+ is the product one should. I love ELF setting mist too, it sets the makeup as well as it prevents powdery look.

These are the products I use, it doesn't mean you have to use the same products. You can buy different brands and see what works for your skin the best. If you have any questions regarding which product to buy, you can always ask me under the comments or email me at

The next post will be with pictures, and to show how the foundation looks on my face!

L'Oreal Paris Casting Creme Gloss Caramel Mania - Toffee Delice [Review]

I'm a person who loves experimenting things with my makeup and hair. When it comes to changing the color, I can try the bold colors to subtle ones. Lately, I've been obsessed with Ombre and full brown hair color. I prefer hair dying my hair at home and that's why I love and prefer shampoo dyes. If you are new, and you are changing hair color at home, it's the easiest way. All you have to do is mix all the contents in a bottle, shake well and start applying. Yes, easy as it sounds.

[Review] Krylon TV Paint Stick - Orange

Makeup not only enhances your features, but also hides your flaws too!
Hiding my dark circles and finding the RIGHT concealer for the under eye circles has always been a BIG task for me. I have tried quite a few concealers, from different brands; none of them matched or could hide my dark circles properly. Until I came across orange corrector by Krylon.
